Vượt Khuôn (Break The Mold) is a reflection of my journey as a young Vietnamese woman navigating the weight of tradition and the desire for self-definition. Growing up, I felt the constant pull of societal expectations—a silent script dictating how I should look, act, and speak. "Cover your skin," they said. "Don’t wear this, don’t wear that. Be graceful. Speak softly, act gently." The ideal was clear: fair skin, a delicate frame, no tattoos, no piercings.

I remember watching my male cousins, favored simply for being men, allowed a freedom that felt like a dream to me. Their voices carried weight, while ours were silenced. Their choices were celebrated, while ours were judged. In this landscape of double standards, I often felt like I was living in a mold—one too small to contain who I truly am.

This project is my rebellion, my voice, my liberation. By blending traditional garments with modern, urban aesthetics, I create a visual language that speaks to the duality of my identity—honoring the past while embracing the present.

Vượt Khuôn is not just about me; it’s about all of us—Vietnamese women stepping out of the shadows of expectations, reclaiming our narratives, and breaking free. It’s a celebration of our individuality, a defiance of the roles we were told to play, and a declaration that we are enough, exactly as we are.

This is my story, and it is our story—a tapestry of resilience, strength, and the courage to rise beyond what we’ve been told to be.
